Main Point: God takes care of us.

Gospel Gems To Talk About: God gave His people food and water in the desert. God took care of His people. God takes care of us. God sent Jesus because He loves us. 


Sunday, January 14th

“The Golden Calf”

Exodus 32:1-35

Key Passage: Hebrews 3:5

Main Point: God takes care of us.

Gospel Gems To Talk About: People should only worship God. God’s people worshiped a calf made of gold. Moses asked God to forgive the people. God forgives people through Jesus.

The Ten Commandments: Love God

Exodus 19:1-20:11

Key Passage: Hebrews 3:5

Main Point: God takes care of us.

Gospel Gems To Talk About: God made everything, and He is in charge. God gave us rules to show us what He is like. People do not always obey God’s rules. Jesus always obeyed God’s rules.

The Ten Commandments: Love Others

Exodus 20:12-17

Key Passage: Leviticus 11:45

Main Point: God is holy.

Gospel Gems To Talk About: God is holy; He always does what is right. God wants us to love others. God showed His love for us by sending Jesus.

In conjunction with the Levels of Biblical Learning, which provides age-appropriate experiences for kids of at every age and stage of development, each session is designed to help you teach kids to:

  • Apply the Bible to real life through Bible stories that guide them in decisions and teach them how to honor God throughout their day-to-day lives
  • Reach biblical milestones through the Levels of Biblical Learning, a proven framework for growth in God’s Word from birth through sixth grade
  • Engage in discipleship through the weekly practice of Bible skills, study, Scripture memorization, and missional awareness

PARENTS: This is what we will be learning about this month, and some ideas on how you can help your child review what they’ve learned. 


Sunday, January 7th

Daniel Chose to Obey

Daniel 1:1-21

 Unit Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16    

Weekly Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 27:10

 Life Point: The Bible has truth and meaning for people.

 The Bible Meets Life: Parents, today your child heard the Bible story of Daniel and his choice to obey God’s laws. Learning from the holy Scriptures kept  Daniel on the right path. What truth does your family find in the Bible?

Live It Out: Talk with your child about some difficult choices she has to make each day. Help her look in the Bible for guidance. Remind her that the Bible provides God’s truth and meaning to our lives.


Sunday, January 14th

Daniel in the Lions’ Den

Daniel 6:1-28

 Unit Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16    

Weekly Bible Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16

 Life Point: The Bible helps people understand how God wants them to live.

 The Bible Meets Life: Parents, today your child studied the Bible story about Daniel in the lions’ den. Even though Daniel faced a difficult situation, he obeyed God and continued to pray to God.

 Live It Out: How can you help your child be an example to others? Discuss ways he can let others see his integrity and obedience to God in his everyday life. This can provide an opportunity to talk to others about how the Bible guides a Christian’s life.


Sunday, January 21st

Jonah

Jonah 1:1- 4:11

 Unit Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16    

Weekly Bible Verse: Proverbs 30:5

 Life Point: The Bible is God’s message to people.

 The Bible Meets Life: Parents, today your child learned about Jonah. God sent Jonah on a mission to give His message to the Assyrian people. Even though Jonah initially disobeyed, he finally obeyed, and the people received God’s message.

Live It Out: Help your child memorize 2 Timothy 3:16, the unit verse for this month. This verse gives an overview of how the Bible impacts our lives. Ask your child to name some things she has learned from the Bible.

John the Baptist Told About Jesus

Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 3:1-22; John 1:18-37

 Unit Verse: 1 John 2:3           

Weekly Bible Verse: John 14:26

 Life Point: The Holy Spirit was present at Jesus’ baptism and is present at people’s baptisms today.

 The Bible Meets Life: Parents, today your child heard the story of John the Baptist and Jesus’ baptism. The Holy Spirit was present at Jesus’ baptism, and He is present today when people choose God’s gift of salvation.

 Live It Out: Depending on the age of your child, the Holy Spirit may be new information for your child. Tell your child that when he became, or becomes, a Christian, the Holy Spirit will always be present in his life.
